According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on November 30th, 2021, at approximately 6:11 PM, Deputy Buchanan arrived at the Walmart located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue in reference to a shoplifting. According to the report, “Upon arrival, Deputy Buchanan spoke to the asset protection associate. She stated that she “observed the two juvenile males selecting, opening, and discarding packages on the shelves and concealing merchandise on” their “person.” The two juveniles then exited the store on the grocery side and did not pay for the items. juvenile 1 and 2, both 12-years-old then gave Deputy Buchanan their information, and Deputy Buchanan notified their parents.” The totaled amount shoplifted was over $100. Juvenile 1’s father, Andres Garcia-Santana, arrived and took custody of the juvenile. The juvenile was cited for theft by shoplifting. Deputy Buchanan called juvenile 2’s mother, Venessa Martinez, who stated that she did not have a valid license or vehicle to get the juvenile. According to the report, she lived nearby if Deputy Buchanan would bring the juvenile. The juvenile was released to Ms. Martinez and cited for theft by shoplifting.
