According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on Saturday, January 8th, 2022, at approximately 6:30 PM, Deputy Nicholas responded to 1488 Hill City Road in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked in the roadway. According to the report, when the deputy arrived, he observed a 2007 Honda Accord parked in the northbound lane of Hill City Road at the address of 1488. According to the report, “The vehicle was not running, and there were no lights illuminated on the vehicle despite it being night time. Upon approaching the vehicle, Deputy Nicholas noticed a male subject sleeping in the driver’s seat, later identified as Barry Hall Dingler, 32, of Alpharetta, GA. Deputy Nicholas knocked on the window, waking up Mr. Dingler.” While speaking with Dingler, the deputy noticed Dingler’s speech was slurred and hard to understand. Dingler was asked if he had any alcohol or drugs. He stated he took prescription drugs. Dingler was asked if he knew where he was at, and he stated he was just “Riding around”. Dingler stated he came from the Alpharetta area. According to the report, While continuing to speak with Mr. Dingler, Deputy Nicholas noticed Mr. Dingler’s eyes were watery. Deputy Nicholas asked Mr. Dingler why he parked in the roadway, and Mr. Dingler stated, “I thought you were behind me”. Deputy Nicholas told Mr. Dingler, “It took me about 15 minutes to get to you, man, so you were here long before I got here,” and Mr. Dingler then said, “Uhm mhm” (No) and shook his head no. Two witnessed stated when they saw the vehicle in the roadway, and it had its flashers on. Both witnesses approached the vehicle asked if he was having any trouble and if they could help. They said he just locked the door and would not speak with them. The witnesses stated several vehicles nearly crashed into Dingler’s vehicle. During standardized field sobriety, Deputy Mills believed he was on some type of medication. Dingler was read Georgia Implied Consent Notice and said, “NO”. While searching the vehicle, deputies located Alprazolam (Xanax). Dingler was transported to the Gordon County Jail, charged with DUI Drugs and Parking Prohibited.
