According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on April 3rd, 2021, around 3:13 PM, a deputy was dispatched to the Walmart located 2545 East Walnut Avenue in reference to a shoplifting. The deputy arrived on the scene and spoke with the asset protection associate. She stated that there is a female that is a vendor for Walmart. She stated that the female, later identified as Kamesha Winfield, 44, of Augusta, was taking merchandise back to the lay-a-way area off the store without paying for the items. She stated that Winfield would select merchandise, take it to the layaway area and open the packaging of the item. The associate stated that Winfield would discard the packaging in the trash can and leave the store without paying for any of the items. Winfield took a deli plate, Reebox three-pack boxers, and infant water jug on April 2nd, 2021. On April 3rd, 2021, Winfield took a sewing machine, a brush, Insta X, multi USB port, minute maid juice, and a deli plate. The total of all items was 186.01 dollars. The deputy placed Winfield under arrest for shoplifting. Winfield was transported to the Whitfield County Jail charged with shoplifting.
