Authorities investigating quadruple murder at Pleasant Grove Park in Whitfield County

The four deceased from the Pleasant Grove Park have been identified as: August 26, 2024, Joshua Pedro Pelico-Pelico 19 Years old 2289 Victory Parkway Dalton, Ga 30721, Daniel Segura-Cruz 17 Years old 305 Brookwood Avenue NW Rome, Ga 30165, David Antonio Delgadillo 21 Years old 127 Chesapeake Way Dalton, Ga 30721, and Robert Valencia 18 Years old 3 Westlyn Place SW Rome, Ga 30165. The preliminary investigation of the scene of the shooting indicates there were individuals that had traveled from Rome, Georgia to meet with Delgadillo and Pelico at the Pleasant Grove Park, for the purpose of obtaining contraband. Evidence also suggest that both parties arrived at the location armed with firearms. As a result of this encounter between the two parties, gun shots were exchanged over a minute time span between the subjects. Based on evidence collected at the scene, the individuals from Rome, Georgia arrived at Pleasant Grove Park with items that are commonly used for concealment for a robbery and these individual(s) used other methods to conceal their location and identity. A 16-year-old juvenile from Rome, has been taken in to custody and charged with four counts of felony murder. Whitfield County Sheriff Scott Chitwood confirmed at a press conference Sunday afternoon that they have a 16-year-old from Rome, Georgia, in custody, charged with four counts of felony murder in connection with the overnight quadruple murder investigation. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is assisting in the investigation. According to the sheriff at 11:14 PM, Saturday, deputies responded to Pleasant Grove Park at 1800 Pleasant Grove Rd to reports of shots fired; when they arrived on the scene, they located four deceased Hispanic males. The sheriff advised the victims were a 21-year-old from Dalton, GA, a 19-year-old from Dalton, GA, an 18-year-old from Rome, GA, and a 17-year-old from Rome, GA. Sheriff Chitwood advised multiple firearms were used based on the large number of shell casings found at the scene. The sheriff advised that based on preliminary investigation, the incident appears to be isolated, and the motive was an apparent robbery. The sheriff advised contraband was found inside the victim’s vehicle. The sheriff also confirmed that this was not a gang-related shooting. The sheriff stated that both vehicles from the BOLO had been located. One of the vehicles, an older model gray Toyota 4Runner, was observed being escorted by GBI agents to the back of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office, being towed by a local Rome tow company.
