Bicyclist seriously injured after being struck by vehicle in Walker County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, October 10th, 2021, at around 11:15 AM, a 2010 Hyundai Elantra being driven by Jeremy Meredith, 39, of Summerville, was traveling south on West Armuchee Road. Richard Forney, 83, of Rocky Face, was traveling south on West Armuchee Road on a bicycle. The Hyundai was behind the bicyclist. According to investigating Trooper Capehart reported, “Meredith passed improperly, failing to use due care while passing. The bicyclist attempted to turn left in a private drive. Meredith struck the driver’s side of the bicycle with its front passenger’s side.” According to the report, Forney was seriously injured in the crash. Meredith was given a citation for overtaking/passing and unregistered vehicle.
