Calhoun boy dies in accidental shooting in Rome over the weekend

A 12-year old from Calhoun died over the weekend following what appears to be an accidental shooting in Rome. The incident occurred Sunday at a residence on Rosemont Drive. According to Floyd County Coroner Gene Proctor, the boy sustained a single gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead Sunday at 6:02 p.m. in the emergency room at Floyd Medical Center. The incident remains under investigation, but once again, it appears to be a tragic accident.
