According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On June 10th, 2022, at approximately 10:20 PM, Trooper Mefford responded to a single-vehicle crash on Union Grove Church Road at Pioneer Drive. According to the report, “The driver, Jason Charles Serritt, 40, of Calhoun, had lost control of his vehicle, and it overturned multiple times. Due to Mr. Serritt not wearing his seat belt, he was thrown to the passenger side of the vehicle.” Serritt advised he didn’t know what caused him to crash his vehicle. He did advise he had been drinking prior to driving. He stated that he had one shot of Jagermeister. Trooper Mefford reported, “Due to Mr. Serritt wrecking his vehicle, not remembering anything that occurred, and his admittance to consuming alcohol, [I] determined that he was under the influence of alcohol to the point that he was less safe to drive. [I] read Mr. Serritt Georgia’s implied consent notice for ages 21 and over. Mr. Serritt agreed to submit to blood testing. Mr. Serritt was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, GA. Due to the extent of Mr. Serritt’s injuries, [I] was unable to observe Standardized Field Sobriety.” Serritt was released to Wellstar Kennestone for treatment, and warrants were obtained for his arrest. On August 1st, 2022, Seritt was booked into the Gordon County Jail, charged with failure to maintain lane, seatbelt violation, and DUI. According to arrest records, Seritt has a lengthy history involving multiple DUI arrests.
