Calhoun teen arrested for DUI after failing to maintain a single lane in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Sunday, September 11th, 2022, at approximately 11:40 AM, Deputy Carnes was on routine patrol in the area of GA-53 and Foster Lusk Road when he observed a 2000 Ford Expedition failing to maintain its lane. Deputy Carnes performed a traffic stop on the Ford Expedition and made contact with Juan Leonard Hernandez, 18, of Calhoun. According to the report, “Deputy Carnes observed Juan’s eyes to be bloodshot and watery while speaking with him. As Deputy Carnes was walking away from the vehicle, he noticed an empty Modelo beer car in the back floorboard of the Expedition. Deputy Carnes called for another unit due to the fact that Juan was showing signs of impairment and the fact that there was an open container on the back floorboard of his vehicle. At first, Juan questioned, stepping out of the vehicle but finally agreed.” During Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, Juan showed several signs of impairment. Juan was placed under arrest for DUI and refused state testing. Juan was booked into the Gordon County Jail, charged with DUI Driving under the influence less safe, failure to maintain lane, and open container.
