According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, On April 6th, 2023, at 10:44 PM, Officer Surrett responded to shots fired call at 14 Kings. Ct. Officer Surrett made contact with several people. One victim stated that she and Clayton Hunter Compton, 20, of Cedartown, had gotten into a misunderstanding, and upon his leaving, he had gotten into a vehicle with Sabastian Chadwick Smith, 21, of Silver Creek. She stated that as Hunter and Sabastian were leaving that Sabastian handed Hunter a gun, and Hunter began to shoot at her. The victim stated that as he started to shoot, she grabbed her child and ran for her life inside the residence. Another victim stated that while Hunter was shooting that her kid was still in one of the vehicles that were located in the driveway. Sebastian messaged one of the victims and asked her what the cops had to say. The victim called Sebastian to see where they were. Sabastian advised they were at the circle k near Shannon Village and then hung up. Hunter then called the third victim, and while speaking with him, she asked why he shot at her, and he stated that he had only shot in the air. She asked Hunter why he would shoot in the air, and he stated that he was drunk. Hunter then asked her if he could come back to her residence, and she advised him that she would come to pick him up due to his being drunk. Hunter then advised he was on his way back to 14 Kings Ct. While Hunter and Sabastian were on their way back to Kings Ct. K-9 Lt. Hovers got behind them on Wilshire Road and conducted a traffic stop. Lt. Hovers and Officer Newport took Sebastian and Hunter into custody. Officer Surrett asked Hunter how much alcohol he had consumed, and he stated an entire bottle of patron. Hunter stated he did not shoot anything and denied anything happening at all. Both Hunter and Sebastian were both transported to Floyd County Jail and booked. Hunter was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, 3rd-degree cruelty to children, reckless conduct, and discharge of a firearm while under the influence of alcohol. Sebastian was charged with party to the crime of aggravated assault.
