Cedartown woman arrested for DUI after running stop sign in Floyd County

According to a Floyd County Police Department incident report, on January 6th, 2022, 1:25 AM, while Officer Overstreet was on patrol in the area of Old Rockmart Road and Preacher Smith Road, he noticed a blue Chevy Monte Carlo turn Right onto Old Rockmart Road from Preacher Smith Road. The vehicle traveling South now began to cross over the centerline. Officer Overstreet reported, “The vehicle approached the stop sign at Old Rockmart and Reeceburg Road. The vehicle slowed but didn’t come to a complete Cessation of movement before proceeding through the stop sign and left on to Reeceburg Road. Once on Reeceburg road, the vehicle drifted over the centerline again while negotiating the curve next to the church. The vehicle then proceeded South and through the stop sign at Reeceburg Road and booze mountain Road. [I] initiated a traffic stop at this time by activating my emergency lights and siren.” The officer approached the vehicle and made contact with the driver Andrea Lashae Young, 29, of Cedartown. The officer advised Young the reason he stopped her was that she ran the stop sign directly behind her. She stated that she did not see a stop sign. Officer Overstreet reported, “While speaking with her [I] noticed her speech was slurred and her eyes were bloodshot, glassy red. [I] asked her if she had anything to drink this evening, and she stated that she had had a few beers.” According to the report, During field sobriety tests, Young showed several signs of alcohol impairment and showed a BAC of .15 on a PBT. She was then placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Young was transported to the Floyd County Jail charged with DUI driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to maintain single lane, and running stop sign.
