According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on August 19th 2021, at approximately 10:13 AM, Deputy Tabellion was dispatched to 2310 Cleveland Highway to the Dollar Tree in reference to a shoplifting that already occurred. According to the report, “The caller stated that on August 18th 2021, at approximately 12:19 PM, she observed a shoplifter leave the store without paying for a pack of Pokemon cards. She stated that a male later identified as Anthony Patrick TJ Smalley, 29, of Chatsworth, came in and walked to the back of the store and briefly looked at the Pokemon cards before quickly grabbing a pack and concealing them in his front left pocket. Mr. Smalley then walked past all points of sale and exited the store activating the stolen item siren.” The caller stated she walked outside and attempted to stop Smalley but he got into his vehicle fleeing the store. According to the report, Deputy Tabellion observed the shoplifting on the surveillance cameras. According to the report, “Mr. Smalley was identified because he returned to the store the following day to return some coffee. To receive a refund on the item Mr. Smalley had to sign, print and write his address on the return receipt. Deputy Tabellion obtained warrants on Smalley for shoplifting and he was arrested on November 11th, 2021.
