Chatsworth man arrested for DUI after leaving bar and failing to maintain lane on Walnut Avenue

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On July 1st, 2022, at 11:10 PM, Officer Womack conducted a traffic stop in the area of Walnut Ave and Silver Circle after observing the vehicle over correct from the inside lane when navigating a curve and cross the solid yellow line. The officer made contact with the driver, Andrew Mitchell, 41, of Dalton, who admitted to having a few drinks at the pub. During field sobriety tests, Mitchell showed several signs of impairment. Mitchell also stated that he “Couldn’t even do it sober”. Mitchell was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test of his breath. Mitchell was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of 0.74. Mitchell then admitted to having two liquor shots and three beers. Mitchell was charged with DUI-less safe and failure to maintain the lane.
