Chatsworth motorcyclist arrested for DUI after yelling in South Whitfield County parking lot

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on August 18th, 2021, at around 11:14 AM, Deputy Caraway observed a red-in-color motorcycle heading south on South Dixie Highway. According to the report, “Deputy Caraway took noticed to the motorcycle because he had just spoken with the driver around 10 minutes before stopping the motorcycle. Deputy Caraway had spoken to him due to him yelling in the parking lot on the corner of South Dixie Highway and Tilton Road.” The deputy reported that he could tell that he had been drinking when he spoke with him. The deputy attempted to catch up to the motorcycle as it quickly turned right onto Ashley Brook Drive and accelerated at a high rate of speed. According to the report, “The motorcycle had increased its speed, and Deputy Caraway increased his speed as well in an attempt to catch the motorcycle.” The deputy eventually caught up to the motorcycle and conducted a traffic stop. The deputy confirmed that it was the same individual that he had just spoken to 10 minutes prior to the stop. The motorcyclist, Rickie Ray Autry Jr., 48, of Chatsworth, did not remember speaking to the deputy. According to the report, “While Deputy Caraway was speaking with Mr. Autry, Deputy Caraway noticed that Mr. Autry had red bloodshot eyes.” During field sobriety tests, Autry showed signs of impairment and showed positive for alcohol showing a .139 blood alcohol content. Autry agreed to the state breath test. Autry was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .127. Autry was charged with too fast conditions and DUI Alcohol 0.08 grams or more.
