According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On June 26th, 2022, at 6:45 AM, Deputy Figg was dispatched to a crash on Haig Mill Lake Road at Popular Springs. Deputy Figg arrived at the scene and found the 2018 Red Ford F-150 on its side in the ditch with the driver, Jacob Hunter Sitton, 19, of Chatsworth, Sitting on top of the vehicle. According to the report, “Jacob stated he was coming up Haig Mill Lake Road toward Popular Springs. Coming into the curve, he was unable to make the curve, went off the road, into the ditch, coming to a stop on its side. Deputy Figg, in observing Jacob, observed bloodshot eyes. Deputy Figg asked if he had anything to drink. Jacob stated he had been drinking prior to driving.” During field sobriety testing, Jacob showed several signs of impairment. The deputy reported, Due to his poor performance, he did not attempt to have Jacob attempt the walk and turn. Jacob was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state testing of his breath. Jacob was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .184 (Which is well over the legal limit of .02 for underage). . Jacob was booked and charged with too fast-for conditions, single-lane violation, DUI, and underage consumption. According to Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident reports, On June 21st, just a few days prior to this DUI crash, Jacob was arrested for DUI after crashing an Imperial Landscapes box truck.
