Chatsworth woman found DUI after causing afternoon crash in Dalton

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on January 19th, 2021, at around 4:51 PM, Officer McBrayer was investigating a crash at the intersection of Waugh Street and Broadrick Drive. Officer Castillo was assisting with the investigation as well. When officers arrived, one vehicle was in the middle turning lane, and another vehicle was pulled over into the driveway of a business. An officer spoke with Kimberly Eve Dale, 54, of Chatsworth, stated to the officer that the accident was “My fault”. The officer reported that Kimberly said this several times. Officer Castillo reported, “Kimberly said that she was driving on Broadrick Drive and was making a right turn onto Waugh Street. Kimberly said that she made the turn in front of the other vehicle, and her vehicle had struck the other car while Kimberly spoke [I] could tell she was slurring her words.” Kimberly said that she had not been drinking when asked. Officer Castillo performed the horizontal gaze nystagmus test on Kimberly. When Officer McBrayer then asked her if she had been drinking today, she stated that she had around 8:00 AM before she went to work. The officer also performed some more field sobriety tests since she had now admitted to consuming alcohol. Kimberly showed several clues of impairment, and a field alco-sensor showed a reading of 0.140 GG of alcohol. Kimberly was placed under arrest and agreed to implied consent to provide a breath sample. Kimberly was transported to the Whitfield County Jail. Kimberly’s breath sample measured 0.144 BrAC. Kimberly was cited for the DUI, improper turn, and improper lane change.
