Chattanooga couple seriously injured in crash with semi on Highway 41 in Catoosa County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, On June 9th, 2022, at 10:25 PM, a 2005 KW CB semi being driven by Donny Hall, 56, of Isom, Kentucky, was backing out of a private drive off GA-3 traveling west. A 2005 Ford Expedition being driven by Daniel Rhodes, 44, of Chattanooga, TN, was traveling south on GA-3. According to the crash report, “Hall improperly backed and had the semi’s trailer horizontal across GA-3. The Expedition struck the semi with its front into the driver side of semi’s trailer. The area of impact was in the southbound lane of GA-3. The semi came to a controlled final rest in the private drive of the 24-Hour Breakdown Service of Georgia. The Expedition came to an uncontrolled final rest in the southbound lane of GA-3 facing south. A witness stated he had a flashlight and was standing by the roadway guiding the semi out of the private drive. Daniel and a passenger in the Expedition, Jennifer Rhodes, 42, of Chattanooga, TN, were both seriously injured and transported to Erlanger in Chattanooga. Daniel was entrapped in the crash and had to be extricated by Catoosa County Fire Department. Hall was not injured and given a warning for improper backing.
