Chattanooga man arrested after driving reckless at speeds over 100 mph on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, On May 30th 2022, at approximately 7:35 PM, while sitting stationary on 1-75 Northbound near mile marker 327, Trooper E. Shackleford observed a gray 2022 Kia Forte traveling at a high rate of speed around other vehicles recklessly. Trooper Shackleford reported, “[I] used my state-issued Stalker Lidar to detect the speed of the oncoming vehicle. The laser displayed a speed of 101 miles per hour. The posted speed limit was 70 miles per hour. [I] activated my blue lights and siren, initiating a traffic stop. The vehicle yielded to my emergency equipment, pulling onto the left shoulder. [I] asked the driver to step out of the vehicle. The driver complied. [I] asked the driver if there was a reason for his excessive speed. The driver advised he was not paying attention.” The driver, identified as Siddhant Atasnia, 30, of Chattanooga, TN, was then placed under arrest for reckless driving. Atasnia was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with speeding and reckless driving.
