Chattanooga man arrested for DUI after speeding on Graysville Road in Catoosa County

According to a Catoosa County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On July 31st, 2022, at 11:13 PM, Deputy Harris was sitting stationary on Graysville Road when he observed a 2011 Honda CR-V driving at a high rate of speed northbound in the area of Middleview drive. The Honda was checked on the radar to be driving 15 mph above the posted speed limit. Deputy Harris preforms a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, identified as Jon Thomas Cumber, 44, of Chattanooga. According to the report, “When Jon handed Deputy Harris his driver’s license, he turned his head toward Deputy Harris, and Deputy Harris smelled the odor of alcoholic beverage emitting from Jon’s breath. Deputy Harris asked Jon if he had consumed any alcoholic beverages, and he stated, “yes sir, I had a couple of beers. I mean I literally live right here, though.” Jon gestured into the roof of his car and looked around in several directions appearing not to want to make eye contact with Deputy Harris.” During standardized field sobriety testing, Jon showed several signs of impairment and refused a PBT. Jon was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state testing of his blood. Jon was transported to the Catoosa County Jail, charged with DUI and speeding.
