Chattanooga pair arrested after traffic stop for driving reckless at 135 mph on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on November 27th, 2021, at around 2:03 AM, Deputy Sharpe was conducting speed enforcement on I-75 northbound near mile marker 338. According to the report, “Deputy Sharpe observed a black Dodge Challenger with Tennessee tag DWT700 at a very extreme high rate of speed in the left lane. The vehicle was leaving the other vehicles on the roadway as if they were just parked there. Deputy Sharpe clocked the vehicle going 135 Mph in the 70 Mph zone.” The deputy conducted a traffic stop near mile-maker 338. Deputy Sharpe had the driver identified as Montez Deandre Sutton, 27, of Chattanooga, TN, turn the vehicle off and step out of the vehicle. Sutton was then placed under arrest. According to the report, “Deputy Sharpe then went to the passenger side and opened the door open the passenger door, and told the passenger to step out. The passenger Asia Simley, 41, of Chattanooga, TN, was very intoxicated. Deputy Warren arrived a short time later and was watching Ms. Simley while Deputy Sharpe was talking to Mr. Sutton. Ms. Simley pulled down her pants and undergarments, exposing herself on the side of I-75. There was a vehicle passing as Ms. Simley did this.” Simley was then placed under arrest as well. Sutton and Simley were both transported to the Whitfield County Jail.Sutton was charged with reckless driving and speeding. Simley was charged with public indecency.
