Chattanooga woman injured in hit-and-run crash on GA-2 in Walker County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on January 26th, 2022, at 6:52 PM, a 2002 Dodge Caravan being driven by an unknown driver was traveling east on State Route 2 in the right lane approaching the intersection of Dewberry Road. A 2007 Chevy Tahoe was stopped facing south, at a traffic signal, on Dewberry Road at the intersection of State Route 2. According to the report, “The driver of the Tahoe stated the traffic signal turned green, and he proceeded across the intersection. The witness stated they were in front of the Tahoe and also stated the traffic signal was green. The Dodge Caravan failed to obey its traffic signal and proceeded through the intersection, failing to yield the right of way to the Tahoe. The Tahoe struck the Dodge Caravan in the driver’s side with its front. After impact, the Dodge Caravan began to rotate the counter clockwise, hitting a concrete curb and overturned. Dodge Caravan came to an uncontrolled final rest on its passenger side facing south in the westbound lanes of State Route 2. The driver and the passenger of the Dodge Caravan fled the scene on foot.” The passenger identified as Destiny Waldon, 25, of Chattanooga, was located a short time later and stated the driver of the Dodge Caravan was Edward Lee Moore, 33, of Chattanooga. At this time, the driver has not been located. Destiny was injured in the crash and transported to the CHI Memorial of Georgia via CHI Memorial EMS.
