Chickamauga woman charged with DUI after crashing into utility pole in Walker County

According to a Georgia State Patrol crash report, on Tuesday, August 24th, 2021, at around a 10:00 PM, 2005 GMC Sierra pulling a trailer being driven by April Lane Hester, 38 of Chickamauga, was traveling west on Garretts Chapel Road negotiating a curve near Herman Buck Lane. The GMC crossed the centerline of the roadway exiting the left side of the roadway. Hester, who was driving under the influence, overcorrected the steering and lost control. The GMC crossed the center line once more, exiting the right side of the roadway striking a utility pole with its front. After impact, the GMC rotated clockwise and overturned, coming to an uncontrolled final rest on its driver’s side. Hester was not injured in the crash and was transported to the Walker County Jail, charged with DUI, failure to maintain a single lane, and driving on the wrong side of the roadway.
