Convicted felon arrested after assaulting ex-girlfriend and her husband with gun during violent domestic

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On Monday, August 15th, 2022, at 6:28 PM, Deputy Potterresponded to an address on Nike Drive in reference to a domestic dispute. The complainant advised the deputy that her sister’s ex-boyfriend Stacey Levon Watkins, 55, of Cartersville, came to the residence to remove his belongings. Watkins was reportedly missing two firearms and became very irate about it. Watkins then kicked in the door to the bathroom where the victim was trying to pass a kidney stone and started violently attacking her. The sister stated that she went into the bathroom to get in between Watkins and the victim. Watkins then pulled a black and silver 9mm Taurus handgun from the back of his waistband. He then began violently assaulting her with the gun, causing a large knot the size of a golf ball on her head. The victim advised she thought she was going to be killed during the assault. The victim’s husband advised he come into the house and observed Watkins with a gun assaulting his wife. He advised deputies that he was able to get the gun away from Watkins, and they started physically fighting. Watkins then brandished a Davis Industry 22 LR and pointed it at him. The man advised he lost his upper front teeth during the violent struggle. Watkins was placed under arrest and transported to the Gordon County Jail, charged with aggravated assault FVA, battery FVA, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of firearms during the commission of a crime, and pointing a gun at another.
