Convicted felon arrested for DUI after shooting gun during domestic in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on December 3rd, 2021, at approximately 10:33 PM, Deputies Sullivan, Sgt. Brunson, Lt. Boiling, and Deaver were dispatched to an address on Dawnville Road for a domestic in progress. According to the report, “Dispatch advised deputies that the caller advised that the male was making threats stating that he was going back to prison. Dispatch also advised that the caller heard gunshots outside the house. Deputies were also advised that the offender was bleeding.” Deputies observed a truck in the driveway with the driver’s side mirror broken off and blood on the ground. According to the report, “Deputies also observed two Hispanic males underneath the carport talking very loudly to each other in Spanish, appearing to be very upset.” Jonathan Carpintero-Jimenez, 30, of Dalton, was sitting down in a chair bleeding from his fingers. The other male was standing in front of Carpintero-Jimenez with his hands on him, keeping him in the chair. Deputies then bandaged Mr. Carpintero-Jimenez fingers due to the bleeding. The female caller advised that the male that is bleeding is her brother, and the other male is her father. She advised that she heard gunshots outside the house and then called 911. According to the report, “Central Control confirmed that Mr. Carpintero-Jimenez was a convicted felon. Nothing was found on Mr. Carpintero-Jimenez’s person. Due to the parents stating that they witnessed Mr. Carpintero-Jimenez putting the firearm in his truck. Deputies then searched the vehicle for the weapon and found a 38 caliber revolver hidden in between the front driver seat and middle seat. The revolver had a capacity of five rounds, and upon examination, the rounds had been fired.” Carpintero-Jimenez was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with disorderly conduct, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and DUI less safe.
