According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On March 27th, 2022 Officers responded to the area of 815 Shugart Road in reference to a shoplifting in progress. The officer reported, “When [I] arrived on the scene, [I] spoke with the loss prevention worker. He stated that there was a male and female who were cutting items out of their original packages and were concealing the items in their child’s diaper bag. Myself and Officer Castillo found the male and female inside the store, and they were later identified as Haley Paige Cross and Bradley Allen Riddle. [I] then began asking about the items they had, and Cross stated that she did not know what [I] was talking about. [I] then asked about the items in the diaper bag, and she stated there was nothing in the bag. [I] then began talking with Riddle, and he refused to answer questions and began to become very upset with officers.” According to the report, He then tried to walk off as if he did nothing wrong and was quickly placed in handcuffs. Both suspects then went to the loss prevention office, and after searching the bag, over $255 dollars worth of stolen items were found in the bag. All the items had been taken out of their packages. The loss prevention associate then informed both Riddle and Cross that they were trespassed from all Walmart properties. Both Riddle and Cross were transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with shoplifting.
