Coweta County man charged with DUI after speeding on the GA-1 Loop in Rome

According to a Georgia State Patrol incident report, on November 7th, 2021, at 11:26 PM, a 2018 Dodge Ram 2500 was observed traveling south at a high rate of speed on SR 1 Loop in Floyd County, towards SR 20 by Rome Police Department Lt. Kerce. According to the report, Lt Kerce performed a traffic stop on the vehicle for excessive speed. During the traffic stop, the driver was identified as Adam Armstrong Walker, 29, of Senoia, Coweta County. According to the report, It was determined by Lt. Kerce that Walker was under the influence of alcohol. At 11:47 PM, reporting Trooper Stan Smith arrived on the scene for further investigation into the impairment of Walker. According to the report, “Walker admitted to drinking four beers approximately one hour prior to the traffic stop. Walker indicated that he did not eat anything while consuming the beers. Walker’s speech was noticeably slurred, and an odor of alcoholic beverage could be smelled emitting from his breath. A preliminary breath sample was voluntarily given with the results showing positive (.101) for alcohol.” During the field sobriety test in which the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test was performed, Walker showed several clues of alcohol impairment. According to the report, The Implied Consent Notice Suspects Age 21 or Over was read to Walker asking for a blood test in which he agreed. Upon completing the blood draw, Walker was transported to the Floyd County Jail charged with DUI.
