Crandall woman arrested for DUI after failing to maintain a single lane on Lower Dawnville Road

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On September 1st, 2022, at around 10:40 PM, Deputy Sharpe stopped a red 2004 Pontiac with a Georgia tag after observing and hearing the vehicle hit the rumble strip on Lower Dawnville Road. Deputy Sharpe then made contact with the driver, identified as Misty Lee Kelley, 33, of Crandall, who cracked her window only about three inches. According to the report, “When Ms. Kelley looked at Deputy Sharpe, he could see that her eyes were bloodshot and watery. Deputy Sharpe could see Mike’s Hard Lemonade in the passenger side. Two of the glasses were missing, and one was open. Deputy Sharpe asked Ms. Kelley how much she had to drink. At first, Ms. Kelley stated she had none, but after further questioning, Ms. Kelley admitted to drinking one drink.” During horizontal Gaze Nystagmus and field sobriety testing, Kelley showed several signs of impairment. Kelley was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state tests. Kelley was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where she showed a BAC of .157. Kelley was booked and charged with failure to maintain lane, DUI driving under the influence, and open container violation.
