Dalton felon arrested after 100 mph chase from Murray County ends in crash and foot pursuit

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on May 12th, 2021, at around 1:18 PM, Murray County Dispatch advised Whitfield County Dispatch that one of their officers was in a chase on Chatsworth Highway coming up to the county line. Murray County advised that the officer was chasing a silver 2014 Dodge Charger over 100 MPH for failing to yield for a traffic stop. Murray County was trying to get the reason for the traffic stop. Whitfield County Deputy Sharpe arrived at the intersection of the South Bypass and Chatsworth Highway. Dispatched had just advised that the chase was coming up to the South Bypass. Deputy Sharpe then observed the silver Charger crash into another vehicle. The driver, identified as Daniel Eric Pimentel, 27 of Dalton, jumped out of the vehicle and ran into the woods. Deputy Sharpe chased Pimentel on foot and was able to take him into custody with Chatsworth Police Department. Pimentel was booked into the Murray County Jail, charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer for a felony offense, Reckless driving, driving while license suspended or revoked, possession of marijuana, and reckless conduct.¬†In May 2020, Pimentel, who is a convicted felon, was arrested after fleeing Dalton PD in a vehicle and on foot.¬†Pimentel has a very lengthy criminal history, including convictions of burglary and theft.¬†
