Dalton man arrested after racing on East Walnut Avenue

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On June 24th, 2022, at approximately 12:45 AM, Officer Mullinax was patrolling the area of East Walnut Avenue. While near the intersection of VD Parrot Parkway, the officer observed two vehicles driving at a high rate of speed. According to the report, “The two vehicles were driving next to each other, at a high rate of speed. They were rapidly accelerating, similar to two vehicles racing. There was a third vehicle, a Honda Civic, driving as fast as they were behind the two cars.” The officer attempted to stop the vehicles and observed them continuing to accelerate at a very high rate of speed. They continued through the intersections running the red lights at East Walnut Avenue and Riverbend Road, and Sheridan Avenue. The officer was able to conduct a traffic stop on the White Nissan 370Z at Silver Circle. The other two vehicles fled eastbound. Officer Mullinax then made contact with the driver, identified as Ener Moreno, 19, of Dalton, and placed him under arrest for racing. Moreno was transported to the Whitfield County Jail and booked.
