Dalton man arrested after shoplifting 12 pack of Bud Light beer from gas station in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On February 26th, 2022, at approximately 8:35 AM, Deputy McClure was dispatched to the Circle K At 3390 Airport Road in reference to a shoplifting that had just occurred. According to the report, “Deputy McClure arrived on scene and spoke to the clerk, who stated that Michael Patterson, 37, of Dalton, came up to the register with two boxes of drinks and placed one on the counter and one on the floor. She stated that Mr. Patterson said that he had two boxes of Pepsi. Ms. Rose stated that she scanned for two boxes of Pepsi for Mr. Patterson, and he paid for them both using his EBT card. She stated that as Mr. Patterson was walking out of the store, she noticed the boxes of drinks Mr. Patterson had put on the ground that he said were Pepsi was actually a 12 pack of Bud Light beer.” Patterson quickly left the store. He took off before she was able to confront him. She stated that Patterson later returned to the store and was attempting to buy a bag of beef jerky, and she confronted him about the beer he shoplifted. She told Patterson that he needed to return the beer or pay for it. Patterson said he would just pay her the difference. She explained to Patterson that’s not how it works and then quickly left the store while saying that he would bring the beer back. Deputy McClure took a warrant out for Patterson for O.C.G.A 16-8-14 theft by shoplifting. On May 14th, 2022, Micheal Patterson was arrested and booked into the Whitfield County Jail, charged with theft by shoplifting.
