Dalton man arrested for DUI after being stopped for running red light on Walnut Avenue

According to a Dalton Police department incident report, on May 29th, 2022, at 3:00 AM, Officer Selby observed a silver passenger car turn right onto West Walnut Ave from Market Street without stopping at the red light. The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Ira Bradley, 32, of Dalton, and noticed that Ira’s eyes were extremely red and glassy. Ira stated that he already knew why he had been stopped. Officer Selby reported, “When Ira reached the rear of his vehicle, [I] detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person/mouth area. [I] again observed that his eyes were very red and glassy. [I] then asked Ira how much he had to drink, and he said, “Uhh probably‚Ķ.A couple”. During standardized field sobriety tests, ira showed several signs of impairment. Ira was then placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI). While in the rear of the patrol vehicle Ira began to talk to himself and call the officers “Stupid ass mother f***ers” and “Dumb f**ks”. Ira then began to yell at officers, stating that he did not fail a single thing and then refused the state test. Ira was then transported to the Whitfield County Jail. While en route to the jail, Ira stated to the officer he had done nothing wrong and continuously told the officer that he was very wrong for arresting him for just trying to go home while people were out “On the streets” selling drugs. Ira was charged with DUI (alcohol less safe), expired tag, and traffic signal violation. According to the report, “Due to Ira refusing intox 9000 the officer then filled out an ALS form and seized his license to be sent to DDS.
