Dalton man arrested for DUI after causing crash with injuries and fleeing the scene on foot

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On August 27th, 2022, at 10:16 PM, Officers responded to a vehicle crash at Tyler Street and North Hamilton Street. Officers were advised by witnesses that the driver of the green Dodge truck, Emmanuel Jacobo, 24, of Dalton, had fled the scene running south on Hamilton. The officers checked on the victim, who was complaining of serious neck and back pain. The tag on the Dodge truck returned to Jacobo, and officers also found his ID card in the truck. Officer Herrera found Jacobo running up the street. Jacobo immediately denied driving and stated, “What accident”. Officer Herrera reported that Jacobo had cuts and scrapes injuries consistent with the vehicle crash. The booking staff also pulled glass consistent with the shattered windows from the Dodge truck from his shirt. Jacobo stated that he had been drinking alcoholic beverages at a local bar. Jacobo was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, charged with DUI less safe, failing to obey traffic lights, leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, and failing to report an accident with serious injuries.
