Dalton man arrested for DUI after driving drunk all over the roadway on East Morris Street

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On April 2nd, 2022, at 2:50 AM, Officer Selby was sitting stationary at 606 East Morris Street with Officer Jones. Officer Selby stopped a Chevy Tahoe after observing it accelerate quickly and fail to maintain its lane by driving over the yellow line of the median. When the officer made contact with the driver, Robert Wissiup Cesspooch, 45, of Dalton, and immediately observed his eyelids to be droopy. The officer reported he also noticed that his eyes were extremely glassy. [I] explained to Robert why he had been stopped and asked if he was okay. Robert stated, “I’m cool”. [I] then observed Robert retrieve his driver’s license from his wallet. When doing this, [I] observed Robert be moving slow and having to concentrate on this task as if it was difficult. [I] then asked Robert to step out of the vehicle and to the rear of the vehicle. When Robert did so, [I] observed that he was uneasy on his feet. When he stepped out of the vehicle, [I] observed an open pack of beer on the passenger floorboard. When Robert reached the rear of his vehicle, [I] asked Robert how much he had to drink. Robert stated, “I was gonna drink some more.” Robert then said that he may have had one.” During field sobriety tests, Robert showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .237 on a PBT. Robert was then placed under arrest for DUI driving under the influence of alcohol and was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .219 on the state test. Robert was charged with DUI (alcohol .08 or more) and weaving over the roadway.
