Dalton man arrested for DUI after driving too fast for conditions and causing two-vehicle crash

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On October 14th, 2022, at 11:20 PM, Officer Cook responded to VD Parrot Jr Pkwy and Riverbend Drive in reference to a two-vehicle crash. Officer Cook reported, “While investigating the crash, one of the dalton firefighters on the scene approached me as [I] entered the scene and told me that he believed that the driver, Damian Blake Davis, 28, of Dalton, was intoxicated. While speaking with Davis and the passenger of the vehicle, Sergio Nunez, [I] could smell the strong odor of alcoholic beverages. The subjects were sitting next to one another and could not tell which subject the smell was coming from. Nunez admitted to drinking alcohol. Davis initially denied it. Eventually, Davis stated that he only drank one glass of wine.” During field sobriety testing, Davis showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .170 on a PBT. Davis was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test of his breath. Davis was booked into the Whitfield County Jail and charged with DUI less safe and too fast for conditions.
