Dalton man arrested for DUI after leaving Tenoch bar and being stopped for failing to maintain lane

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On June 26th, 2022, Officer Lewis was patrolling the area of North Thornton Ave and West Waugh Street, looking for any illegal or suspicious activity. The officer observed a vehicle with a Florida tag take an unusual amount of time to accelerate from a green light. Officer Lewis reported, “Due to my experience, knowledge, and training, [I] recognized that this could be a sign of an impaired driver. I then started to follow this vehicle to see if it had committed any traffic violations. Around the intersection of East Morris Street, this vehicle began to weave outside of its lane and touched the center line with its tires a couple of times.” The officer conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Justin Riescher, 21, of Dalton. He stated that he didn’t realize that he was weaving and that he was using his GPS to try to find a bar. While talking to him, the officer observed a paper band on his wrist that is commonly used at bars. Justin stated he had gotten it when he was at the bar “Tenoch”. Officer Lewis reported, “[I] asked him if he had anything to drink there, and he stated that he had a few drinks but not much.” During field sobriety testing, Justin showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .089 on PBT. Justin was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Justin was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .088. Justin was charged with DUI alcohol 0.08 or more and failure to maintain a lane. Officer Lewis reported, “An administrative license suspension form was completed, and Justin did sign it.”
