According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, “On April 28th, 2022, Officer Bethune responded to North Spencer Street and Martin Luther King Jr Blvd in reference to a vehicle crash with injuries. According to the report, “Dispatch advised that the caller stated that one of the male drivers was possibly intoxicated.” Officer Bethune reported, “Upon my arrival, [I] observed a vehicle, later identified as a silver Chevrolet Tahoe with GA tag belonging to Robert Wissiup Cesspooch, 45, of Dalton, on its’ top on North Spencer Street just south of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. [I] also observed another vehicle, later identified as a black 2021 Nissan Versa with GA tag, in the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd and North Spencer Street with heavy front end damage and deployed airbags.” The victim in the Versa advised that Cesspooch ran the stop sign of North Spencer Street into his path of travel, causing the crash. The victim was complaining of several injuries and was later determined to have broken ribs at the hospital, according to the report. Officer Bethune reported, “[I] was then approached by several individuals who pointed me towards Cesspooch, who was sitting in a grassy area near his vehicle. They also advised me that he (Cesspooch) appeared to be “Drunk”. When [I] approached Cesspooch, he was uneasy on his feet and appeared to be looking around aimlessly. [I] then attempted to ask Cesspooch about the accident but quickly noticed that Cesspooch was not comprehending what [I] was saying. [I] then noticed that Cesspooch had a strong odor of alcohol coming from his person. [I] also noticed that Cesspooch’s eyes were red and glassy. [I] also noticed that when Cesspooch spoke, [I] could again smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his mouth area with it being a stronger odor this time.” Cesspooch was asked if he had been drinking and said, “A little”. According to the report, “Dalton firefighters pointed towards an empty bottle of vodka that was on the roof of Cesspooch’s overturned vehicle. Cesspooch then refused to take any field sobriety tests. Cesspoch was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Cesspooch admitted, “I’m guilty” several times. Cesspooch was charged with DUI alcohol less safe, and failure to stop at stop sign. According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On April 2nd, 2022, Cesspooch was arrested for DUI after driving drunk all over the roadway on East Morris Street.
