Dalton man arrested for DUI again after driving drunk all over Cleveland Highway with two small kids in Varnell

According to a Varnell Police Department incident report, On August 14th, 2022, at 10:27 PM, Officer Tirado conducted a traffic stop on a grey Hyundai Sonata after observing the vehicle driving all over the GA-71. Officer Tirado then made contact with the driver, later identified as Oscar Guzman, 33, of Dalton, and could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Officer Tirado reported, “[I] asked Mr. Guzman when was the last time he consumed alcohol, and he stated his last drink was Saturday afternoon. While speaking to Mr. Guzman, [I] observed a young female child not properly restrained. Mr. Guzman then rolled down the back seat window, and [I] observed another young male child with no car seat and not properly restrained.” Deputy Morales arrived to assist and advised that the vehicle was BOLO from a call he was just on. Guzman’s wife called Whitfield 911 and stated that her husband had been drinking and had her kids. Guzman stated to Deputy Morales that he had his last drink around 2/3 P.M and had four drinks between 10 A.M-2P.M. Guzman stated that he had recently been arrested for DUI and is still waiting on the court date. Guzman showed a BAC of .139 on a PBT. Guzman agreed to the state testing of his blood and was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with failure to maintain lane, no proof of insurance, safety belt violation (children) x2, DUI alcohol endangerment of a child under the age of 14 x2, and DUI alcohol less safe (2nd offense).
