Dalton man arrested for DUI again after leaving the Oyster Pub and weaving over the roadway

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on February 11th, 2021, at around 1:36 AM, Officer Mefford spotted a vehicle that was weaving in and out of its lane of travel on East Walnut Avenue. The officer then paced the vehicle at a speed of 60 mph in a 45 mph zone. The officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The vehicle entered 2214 East Walnut Avenue at a high rate of speed, almost striking a telephone. When the officer made contact with the driver, Timothy Seth Edwards Griggs, 25, of Dalton, he could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle. Timothy’s eyes were reported as extremely glassy. Timothy advised the officer that he had just had a breakup. Timothy advised he had nothing to drink and advised that he had just left the Oyster Pub located at 933 Market Street. Timothy continued to advise the officer had had nothing. When Timothy stepped out of his vehicle, he was observed as uneasy on his feet. The officer reported detecting an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person/mouth area. During the battery of field sobriety tests, Timothy showed displayed a lack of coordination and difficulty standing several clues of impairment and was placed under arrest for DUI driving under the influence of alcohol. At the Whitfield County Jail, Timothy gave a breath sample on the intox 9000 machine and showed a blood alcohol count (BA) of .215 grams of alcohol. Timothy was charged with DUI .08 grams or more, speeding, weaving over the roadway, and driving without license on person. According to online records, Timothy was arrested by DPD in 2020 for DUI after weaving all over Walnut Avenue.
