According to a Whitfield County sheriff’s office incident report, on January 5th, 2021, at around 10:12 PM, A deputy advise over the radio he was behind a black Ford Mustang weaving over the roadway on Renfroe Road. Deputy Figg, along with Sgt. Callahan responded to the area of Dawnville Beaverdale Road and Renfroe to assist in conducting a traffic stop. Deputy Figg observed the vehicle turn onto Dawnville Beaverdale Road and then onto Bowers Road. The deputy immediately got behind the vehicle and turned on his blue lights to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle immediately accelerated to a high rate of speed. The deputy attempted to stop the suspected Drunk Driver, later identified as Terry Lamar Silvers, 49, of Dalton. Silvers continued to cross over the double yellow line and, at times, almost completely driving in the wrong lane of travel. Terry continued to travel at a high rate of speed. Terry suddenly stopped and exited the vehicle running toward the back of 2001 Bowers Road, which is Terry’s residence. The deputies also exited their patrol vehicle running after Terry. A deputy caught up with Terry as he was going up on his front porch. The deputy unholstered his weapon and pointed it at Terry, ordering him on the floor of the porch. Terry complied and was taken into custody without further incident. While a deputy checked the area where Terry had run, he found two plastic baggies containing a white crystal-like substance suspected as meth. Terry was transported to the Whitfield County Jail booked on charges of possession of meth, possession to distribute meth, trafficking in meth, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, misdemeanor willful obstruction of law officers, and misdemeanor fleeing/attempting to elude a police officer.
