Dalton man becomes belligerent and attempts to fight employees after having limit cut off at bar

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on October 23rd, 2021, at approximately 8:52 PM, Officer Mullinax Officer Mantooth and Officer Morang responded to The Oyster Pub located at 933 Market Street, in reference to a male subject later identified as Alex Mcatee, 25, of Dalton, who was causing a disturbance. Officer Mullinax reported, “Prior to our arrival, the caller said that several employees were currently holding Mcatee down outside. On scene, [I] observed the owner, Rafeek Mughrabi, and two other employees holding down Mcatee. Alex was yelling loudly and attempting to get away from the subjects.” Officers arrived and gained control of Alex and placed him in handcuffs. According to the report, While escorting Alex to a patrol car Alex kept pulling away from the officers and kept yelling at them. Officer Mullinax reported, “He was unsteady on his feet, and his yelling was very slurred. The strong odor of alcoholic beverage came from his person.” Alex was transported to the Whitfield County Jail while officers spoke to the owner. While en route to the jail Alex’s mood would change dramatically. He would go from being very angry to very calm. Officer Mullinax reported, “He hit his head on the window several times out of anger.” According to the owner,Alex was drinking at the bar and was cut off This made him very mad, and they attempted to escort him out of the bar. He said that on the way out, Alex kicked the door extremely hard and then attempted to fight with employees. Alex was charged with public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
