Dalton man charged with DUI child endangerment after leaving wedding on Hamilton Street

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on November 6th, 2021, 11:49 PM, Officer Morang and Officer Owens responded to an intoxicated driver call at the Burger King at 310 Northgate Drive. The complainant advised that she saw a black pickup truck driving towards the fast food lane and it stopped abruptly a couple of times. According to the report, She stated that the black pickup truck hit the yellow pole. She stated that when the black pickup truck passed her she noticed a small child sitting in the front passenger seat without a seatbelt. According to the report, She also stated she could smell alcohol coming from the truck. She stated the smell was like a punch in the face. According to the report, She stated that the black pickup truck then drove over the curb pulling out onto the Bypass. According to the report, She stated that she called 911 for fear of the safety and life of the child in the front seat. Officer Castillo then located the black pickup truck at 945 Brooker Drive. The driver was identified as Pedro Ivan Saldana-Ventura, 37, of 945 Brooker Drive, Dalton. Pedro was asked if he had hit a a yellow pole and advised he did not. Officer Morang then noticed on the drivers side mirror there were yellow scratches on it constant with hitting a yellow pole. Officer Morang asked Pedro where did the yellow scratch marks come from Pedro stated that he did in fact hit the yellow pole at Burger King. When asked if he had been drinking Pedro stated that he had two beers at a party. Pedro stated that he should not be driving. Pedro stated that he was at a wedding on Hamilton Street before going to Burger King. During field sobriety testing, Pedro showed several signs of impairment. Pedro was transported to the Whitfield County Jail charged with DUI and DUI (endangering a child).
