Dalton man found in possession of cocaine after shoplifting from Walmart

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on December 10th, 2021, at approximately 10:02 PM, Deputy Spence was dispatched to the Walmart located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue in reference to a shoplifter that was detained by asset protection. According to the report, “Deputy Spence met with the asset protection associate, who provided the following information. She advised that the subject detained, identified as Conner Townsend, 20, of Dalton, was observed selecting, consuming, and discarding several products. She stated that Mr. Townsend then made a separate purchase and attempted to exit the store without paying for the items that he had consumed earlier. Deputy Spence placed Mr. Townsend under arrest and transported him to Whitfield County Jail. While en-route, Mr. Townsend advised Deputy Spence that he had a small amount of cocaine inside his wallet, wrapped inside a five-dollar bill.” Townsend was charged with theft by shoplifting and possession of cocaine.
