Dalton man gives fake name to deputy after being caught shoplifting from Walmart

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On April 7th, 2022, at 3:11 PM, Sergeant Callahan and Deputy Woods responded to a shoplifting in progress at the Walmart located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue. Deputy Diak arrived on the scene first and began speaking with the asset protection associate. She stated she had observed Christopher James Taylor, 30, of Dalton selecting, opening, and concealing merchandise on his person. According to the report, “She stated Mr.Taylor then “ticket switched” a hoodie and then made a small purchase and exited the store with unpaid merchandise in his possession. She stated the two items were valued at $32.99 total. Mr. Taylor provided a false name to Deputy Diak when asked for his name and date of birth”. Sgt. Callahan transported Taylor to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with theft by shoplifting and giving false name/Address/DOB to law officer.
