Dalton teen arrested after driving recklessly and running red light in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On August 13th, 2022, Deputy Figg was north on GA-3 approaching the traffic light for Airport Road. According to the report, “As Deputy Figg was approaching the traffic light, which for Ga 3 was red, he could also see the traffic light for Airport Road was red as well. As Deputy Figg continued to approach the traffic light, he observed a silver Honda Civic traveling west on Airport Road enter the intersection at a very high rate of speed. Deputy Figg estimated his speed as 65 Mph and continued to gain speed as he continued through the intersection with his traffic light being red. Deputy Figg activated his blue lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle.” The deputy made contact with the driver, Issac Salaices, 17, of Dalton, and placed him under arrest for the reckless manner in which he ran the red light due to the speed with the light being red well before he entered the intersection. Isaac was then transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with reckless driving and running a red light.
