Dalton teen arrested after shoplifting over $200 dollars in merchandise from Walmart

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on November 16th, 2021, 3:17 PM, Deputy McClure was dispatched to Walmart located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue in reference to a shoplifter. According to the report, “When Deputy McClure arrived at the Walmart, he was met by asset protection associate and Emily Elizabeth Patton, 19, of Dalton. The associate showed Deputy McClure security camera footage of Ms. Patton concealing several items into a tote. She stated that Ms. Patton made a small purchase then left the store without paying for the items inside the tote. She stated that she approached Ms. Patton and asked her to come with her to her office so she could give her paperwork and trespass Ms. Patton from all Walmart properties.” The associate provided the deputy with a full list of the items in the tote, along with an exact dollar amount of $252.88 of stolen merchandise. The stolen items included jeans, men’s pants, a nail kit, cologne, deodorant, hair products, and more. Patton was taken into custody and transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where she was charged with theft by shoplifting.
