Dalton teen arrested after stealing box of cigarettes from Whitfield County convenience store

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on April 20th, 2021, at approximately 1204 PM, Deputy Findley was dispatched to the Andy’s Mart located at 2219 Abutment Road, in reference to a shoplifter that just left. According to the report, “Deputy Findley spoke with the owner. The owner stated a taller, little bigger, black male who had short black hair and a beard, wearing a black short-sleeve shirt and black sweat pants, came into the store and asked for a box of cigarettes and was attempting to pay with his card using the chip. The owner stated the male’s card kept being declined by his machine.” The owner stated this went on for over 15 minutes, and then finally the male picked up the bag with the box of cigarettes in it and walked out the door without paying for them. The owner chased him out and observed the male get into the passenger seat of a red Kia Sportage with tag #RYT5319 displayed. He stated the vehicle then left the scene traveling southbound on Abutment Road. The owner requested the case be further investigated by deceives. Micaiah Siaye Smith, 19, of Dalton, was identified and booked into the Whitfield County Jail on August 8th, 2021. According to Whitfield County arrest records, Micaiah has previous felony arrests, including entering auto with intent to commit theft.
