Dalton teen arrested for DUI after leaving party and hitting car in the Waffle House parking lot

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on August 29th, 2021, at approximately 3:00 AM, Deputy Koehler and Deputy Sullivan responded to the Waffle House located at 1515 Cleveland Highway in reference to a private property crash. Deputies met with reporting party, who explained he was paying for his dinner and observed a white Honda Accord back into the side of his pickup truck. According to the report, “On scene Deputy Koehler observed a male identified as Anthony Resendiz, 18, of Dalton, who Deputy Koehler saw at a large party on Patterson Hill Road approximately an hour earlier. Deputy Koehler asked Mr. Resendiz how much he had to drink, and Mr. Resendiz replied, “3 or 4 drinks”. Mr. Resendiz was very unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech, and was glassy-eyed. Deputy Koehler observed the distinct, strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from Mr. Resendiz’s breath.” Deputy Buchanan arrived on the scene and administered an alcohol breath test with an Alco-Sensor. The Alco-Sensor had a positive BAC reading of .213. Resendiz agreed to submit to a state-administered test of his breath. Resendiz was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .166 on the Intoxilyzer 9000. Resendiz was charged with DUI under the age of 21 and with underage consumption.
