According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on February 1st, 2021, at around 4:53 PM, officers responded to a man that said he was “jumped” at the skate park located off of Avenue C, and his vehicle, a black Chrysler Pacifica, was taken at gunpoint. The victim said after one man “called him over,” the next thing he knew, another man “cocked a handgun and stuck it in his back and told him to give them everything in his pockets.” The victim decided to “fight back” but was “taken to the ground and beaten after swinging at the suspect”. Another male at the park attempted to help, but the suspect aimed the gun at him, telling him to stay back. THC cartridges, marijuana, scales, a pipe, baggies, Glock 9 mm with a magazine, and three 9 mm bullets were listed as evidence in the incident report. The victim stated he did not know the suspects, who then fled in the stolen Chrysler Pacifica. Officers were able to watch a video of the altercation from a person who videoed the incident with a phone. The video showed “one male get out of the black Chrysler with what appeared to be a gun in his hand. He then pointed at a male who had run up and then pointed it at another male who was ducking down behind a vehicle. Cesar Resendiz Jr., 19, of Dalton, was arrested on February 8th by the Dalton Police Department. Luis Silva, 19, of Dalton, was arrested on February 2nd by the Dalton Police Department. Both teens were charged with armed robbery with a gun, aggravated assault, battery, and felony theft of an automobile. Both teens have since been released from the Whitfield County Jail.
