Dalton woman arrested after shoplifting $65 worth of merchandise from Walmart

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, on November 14th, 2021 about 2:15 p.m., Deputy A. Gomez responded to Walmart located at 2545 East Walnut Avenue regarding to a theft by shoplifting. According to the report, “At the location Deputy A. Gomez met with the reporting party Walmart’s asset protection associate and the suspected shoplifter who verbally identified herself as Destiney Eaton, 21, of Dalton, identity was confirmed with an National Crime Information Center inquiry.¬†The associate advised that she witnessed Destiney Eaton at a self-check-out register and observed her skip scanning certain Walmart merchandise. Ms. Eaton completed her transaction then exited the store without attempting to pay for the unscanned merchandise that she had in her possession. The associate approached Ms. Eaton and questioned her about the merchandise; she was then escorted to the Walmart’s asset protection office. The unscanned merchandise were all grocery consumable goods and they were recovered and amounted to $65.61.¬†Evaluating the set of facts and circumstances, Deputy A. Gomez reasonably believed that the violation of theft by shoplifting was committed by Destiney Eaton, therefore she was taken into custody and transported to the Whitfield County Jail.
