Dalton woman arrested for DUI after being stopped for failing to maintain lane on Glenwood Avenue

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on February 20th, 2022, at around 2:30 AM, Officer Avila was patrolling the area of Glenwood Avenue and Tyler Street when the officer observed a blue passenger car traveling north on Glenwood Avenue. The officer initiated a traffic stop at Morningside Drive on the vehicle after observing it fail to maintain a single lane of travel. Officer Avila reported, “When [I] made contact with the driver, Michelle Rosilea Plott, 37, Dalton, [I] did not detect the odor of alcohol but observed Michelle’s pupil’s were dilated. [I] explained to Michelle why she had been stopped and asked Michelle if there was any reason for her actions. When Michelle responded, [I] noticed that her speech was slurred. [I] then asked Michelle if she had taken any medication. Michelle answered that she had consumed medication prior to operating the vehicle. [I] then asked Michelle to step out of the vehicle and step towards the rear of the vehicle. When Michelle did so, [I] observed that she was very uneasy on her feet, she appeared to have trouble maintaining her balance, and she began to lean against the trunk of her vehicle. [I] observed that Michelle’s eyes were very glassy, her pupils were dilated, unable to maintain balance, and has slurred speech.” During field sobriety testing, Michelle showed several signs of impairment. Michelle was placed under arrest for DUI and refused the state test. Michelle was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, charged with DUI- drugs, and failure to maintain a single lane.
