Dalton woman arrested for DUI after being stopped for multiple traffic violations on Market Street

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, on May 1st, 2022, at 12:15 AM, Sgt. Saylors conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the parking lot of Mcdonald’s on West Walnut Avenue. Officer Allen responded to assist and observed a 2020 KIA Sportage. According to the report, “Sgt. Saylors stated that he observed the vehicle traveling on Market Street with no headlights. He also stated that it had failed to yield to oncoming traffic. He stated that the driver, Brittany Renee Welborn, 30, of Dalton, had admitted to taking a shot earlier in the night prior to driving. Officer Allen reported, “[I] observed that her eyes were glassy and she had slurred speech. She stated that she had only had one red label Budweiser beer earlier in the night. During field sobriety tests, Brittany showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .103 on a PBT. Brittany was transported to the Whitfield County Jail, where she showed a BAC of .110 on the state test. She was charged with DUI, no license, failure to yield while turning left, no headlight, and failure to yield when entering the roadway.
